During the winter months, we love to have family game night, movie night, etc. So it's good to be well stocked on movies and board games. One that we've been wanting to try for awhile is the Watch Ya' Mouth game and there's a new edition out: Watch Ya' Mouth Throwdown Edition. I've seen all the YouTube and Facebook videos of folks with the mouthpiece in trying to say a phrase while everyone guesses what they're saying. It's hilarious!
I teamed up with the US Family Guide and Watch Ya' Mouth to give you a glimpse into the newest Throwdown edition.
Ok first off, the game is family friendly and actually pretty funny to play. With that said, it is not the most sanitary game in the world. You'll want to keep plenty of paper towels handy! and if you or or your playmates have a cold or suspected cold, please sit this one out on game night!
To play, everyone gets a mouthpiece. They come in two sizes. We all had to use the smallest size even though we're all a bunch of big mouths. :D The larger ones were just too big and uncomfortable.
Like the original game, there are phrases to be read but there are also tasks that opponents have to complete. For instance, my daughter and I had to put the mouthpiece in, place a pen between our teeth and try to draw a picture while the others guessed what it was. There was uncontrollable drool and we gave up.
Another challenge uses a horn blower that is included. Some use included straws or ping pong balls. The straws and mouthpieces can be rewashed. The horns, not so much. So that is where the sanitary issue really comes into play. These are gonna be tossed out at the end of one round of play and we would have to end up purchasing new ones each time. I'm not gonna do that.
The kids liked the challenges well enough but got frustrated with how messy it was. Funny.... but gross. They ended up just wanted to do the phrase challenges so we finished out the game night with that.
I think this game is fun enough, but the throwdown edition just isn't for us.
